All homes and businesses in Val do Dubra (A Coruña) will have access to ultra-fast fibre, with speeds that can reach 10 Gbps symmetrical, before the end of 2023, following the agreement reached between the mayor, José Manuel Varela Ferreiro, and Rede Aberta.
The agreement reached between the two parties establishes that the Val do Dubra Council will share with Rede Aberta the municipal electrical infrastructures in order to be able to carry out the deployment of the fibre optic cabling. The agreement speeds up the process for connecting all the housing units, reduces unnecessary and redundant works and minimises the environmental impact. Thus, in the coming months the deployment plan will begin, which foresees the installation of 1,150 housing units before the end of 2023, which will facilitate internet connection to the more than 3,800 residents of Val do Dubra. According to data from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation (July 2021), only 33% of homes in Val do Dubra had a fibre optic connection with a symmetrical speed exceeding 100 Mbps. With the deployment planned by Rede Aberta (1,150 uu.ii.), all homes will be reached before the end of 2023. Once the fibre optic installation has been completed, in order to have internet access, users must contract the connection with local telecommunications operators.
In the case of Val do Dubra, Rede Aberta has agreements with local operators 7 Play, A Túa Xanela, Aúrea Telecom, Evoa, IT Sarria, Itegal, Juifi, Planeta Voz, Eume Telecom, Grelo, Oteuoperador, Pizpireta Telecom or Toxo Telecom .
