Rede Aberta has completed the deployment of ultra-fast fibre optics in the municipality of Coristanco (A Coruña), allowing homes and businesses to access a high-capacity, stable and more secure Internet connection.
Following the actions carried out in recent weeks, Rede Aberta is installing more than 2,500 housing units that will serve all 2,710 homes registered in the municipality and local businesses and shops. Currently, Coristanco has a population of 6,982 inhabitants and only 1,005 of them have an Internet connection with more than 100 Mbps. Rede Aberta connections offer symmetrical speeds of up to 1 Gbps. To have this digital connection, users must contract access with local telecommunications operators. In the case of Coristanco, Rede Aberta has agreements with 7 Play, A Túa Xanela, Aúrea Telecom, Evoa, IT Sarria, Itegal, Juifi, Planeta Voz, Eume Telecom, Grelo, Oteuoperador, Pizpireta Telecom o Toxo Telecom.
Rede Aberta has been in operation for almost three years and is present in more than 50 rural municipalities in Galicia. With more than 1,300 kilometres of fibre optics deployed to provide neutral network service, it reaches more than 140,000 homes. In addition, it is the successful bidder for the deployment of the UNICO plan of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation for the province of A Coruña, which involves bringing high-capacity fiber optics to 36,556 homes in rural areas.
In the A Costa da Morte area – made up of the regions of Bergantiños, Soneira and Fisterra -, Rede Aberta carried out the deployment of fiber optics in the Bértoa industrial estate (Carballo) in recent months and installed real estate units in almost 18,000 units ( uu.ii) with access for homes in various municipalities such as Malpica 4,028 uu.ii), Laxe (2,000), Ponteceso (2,342), Vimianzo (3,000) and another 6,500 in Cee and Corcubión.

Rede Aberta is a Galician company that is part of the fiber projects of the CEBF fund, which is in 7 countries in Europe. It was established in 2020 and has 20 direct employees and more than 200 indirect employees who collaborate in deploying fiber in rural municipalities. The company plans to invest 121 million euros until 2025 to reach 400,000 homes in rural areas. CEBF (Connecting Europe Broadband Fund) is a fund with 555 million euros that exclusively promotes digital infrastructure in Europe. It is managed by Cube Infrastructure Managers (“Cube IM”), specialized in infrastructure investments.
